Microtunneling Ring Zuid Groningen

For the municipality of Groningen we drill a GVK nut sewer Ø1100mm of almost 900m. We use closed front technique, or microtunneling, to lay the sewer at a depth of about 5.5 meters under ground level. In the route that runs from the Paterswoldseweg and the Donderslaan around the Vrijheidsplein to the Concourslaan, we have constructed 11 temporary sheet piling basins (low vibration), in which later the drillings will be connected to inspection wells. The microtunnelling technique is very suitable here because of the high accuracy and because it can be drilled under the groundwater level.

We limit the inconvenience to businesses and residents by making smart use of the environment, applying the sheet piling casings with low vibration and limiting pumping as much as possible.

Van Leeuwen Sleufloze Technieken B.V. carries out the entire process from detailed design to commissioning of the sewer.

The project is a preparatory component for Approach Ring Zuid (ARZ). ARZ is a project of the municipality of Groningen, the province and the government for the conversion of the southern ring road (N7). The plan ensures that traffic flow through smoothly and that all destinations in the city are more easily accessible. The road is better fitted into the environment. That improves the quality of life. The road is also organized to be more safely.
