HENGELO HEATING NETWORK

We were responsible for all engineering within the Hengelo project. In the Hengelo heating network, a number of existing distribution networks became interconnected by means of a backbone structure.

Bore Cross-section

Bore diameter(s) DN400 tapering to DN250 / The HT pipelines have various diameters and partially comprise PEX pipes.

Activities

The backbone will be fed with residual heat from the AkzoNobel factory to the south of Hengelo. From the AkzoNobel site, this backbone will provide various decentralised power plants with heat. The input pipelines to these power plants are low temperature pipelines (LT). In turn, the power plants feed various heat transfer stations. These use high temperature pipelines (HT). The backbone comprises a DN400 pipeline tapering to DN250, the HT pipelines have various diameters and partially comprise PEX pipes. A number of horizontal directional drilling (HDD) sections are included within the project trajectory in order to cross the various infrastructure works.
Special Circumstances
A number of infrastructure works must be crossed in order to execute these directional borings. This project was executed in collaboration with MVOI.
